9 GRATITUDE JOURNAL IDEAS

Gratitude should be an everyday thing, not something you show only on Thanksgiving Day. So, if you intend to start a gratitude journal, here are nine gratitude journal ideas to get you started.

1. PEOPLE

Who are you particularly grateful for; write about that person and why. It could be your spouse, friend, co-worker or relative. Or do the flip side of this suggestion; write about one quality you find in people you dislike and yet are grateful for. Better still, you can also write a letter to thank someone who has made a positive impact on your life.

2. CHALLENGES

Are you experiencing a challenge such as a divorce, illness, financial crisis or death of a loved one? You can pen down what you are thankful for about this challenge.

3. MEMORIES

Indulge in some nostalgia - reflect on past memories you are grateful for. It could be your wedding day, the birth of a child, first date or something that made you laugh. Flip through the old family album or bring out a keepsake to jog your memory and write down what you are grateful for about these memories.

4. LESSONS

Life lessons make great content for gratitude journals. Is there something you are grateful to have learnt today, during the week or year? Jot it down in your journal.

5. NATURE

Look around you. Mother Nature has given us so much to be thankful for. Plants, animals, the ocean, seasons, and the list goes. Which aspect of nature are you in tune with? Write about why you are grateful for it. For instance, if you are an animal lover, write about how grateful you are for having a pet and why.

6. POSSESSIONS

gratitude journal

You must be grateful for the material things you own like a house, car, clothing, gadgets, money, etc. It could even be that coffee-maker that makes cappuccino for you every morning or that laptop you watch all the movies on. Write about the things you own that you are most grateful for.

7. PLACES

Are you grateful for the city, town or country you live in? Write about what you love about these places and how they positively impact your life to show your gratitude for them. If you are not sure what you love about these places, for instance, your city, take a walk through or go on a trip to find out.

8. YOU

Not only are you the author of your gratitude journal, but its character. So, how about penning down the hobbies that bring you joy or the talents that make you stand out. You can also write about your best features - hair, figure, smile, etc. and why you are grateful for them. You can even write about what you are thankful for about your favourite meal or a part of your morning routine.

9. WORK
