8 MOST HYDRATING DRINKS FOR SUMMER BESIDES WATER

Need to stay hydrated during the summer? Then try out these other hydrating drinks. They are great substitutes for water and a powerhouse for electrolytes, probiotics, vitamins, minerals and sodium. Besides, they will give you a burst of flavours you will enjoy.

1. LEMON WATER

Drinking lemon water is an old Indian ritual that has so many benefits for the body. You can make lemon water from a variety of ingredients like herbs, honey, rock salt and spices. It is usually drank chilled to refresh and energize you, and it’s the best way to beat the summer heat. Apart from being a coolant, it is also one of the best ways to get Vitamin C for your body . 

Lemon water also supports liver cleansing. It stimulates the liver’s production of bile which is a body fluid that detoxifies the body.

2. MILK

As a matter of fact, milk rehydrates you better than water. It contains good quality carbs, proteins and sodium, which make your body retain body fluids. You can have your milk as a milkshake or smoothie or even go for buttermilk. If you are lactose intolerant, try non-dairy or plant milk like oat milk, almond milk and rice milk. Alternatively, you can opt for regular milk, which is lactose-free.

Coconut water is certainly the best of all the hydrating drinks. It is low in calories but rich in potassium. In fact, it has better hydrating abilities than water. Besides, it’s an energy booster and thus a much healthier option than energy drinks.

4. ALOE VERA WATER OR ALOE VERA JUICE

The aloe plant is a superfood that has a lot of health benefits. It is not surprising that water or juice from it is equally nourishing.

It is jam-packed with antioxidants that prevent premature ageing. Also, it has regenerative properties, which means it supports the body’s replacement or repair of damaged tissues and cells. It also supports liver function so it can detox the body. And of course, you have probably heard of its benefits for the skin. It clears up acne and soothes skin conditions like psoriasis, sunburn and dermatitis.

You can dip some chunks of aloe vera in a container of water and drink while you’re on the go or drink the juice squeezed out of this plant.

To make water infused with fruits, just stash some different fruits in a bottle of water and cork it. Sip it throughout the day to keep you energized and refreshed.

8. CUCUMBER JUICE OR CUCUMBER-INFUSED WATER

Cucumbers have a high water content which naturally makes them hydrating. They are made of 90% water. Veggie juices like cucumber juice are healthier options than fruit juices since the natural sugars in fruits reduce their hydrating abilities. A glass of cucumber juice or cucumber-infused water can be the perfect choice when you need a hydrating, cooling boost on a hot summer day.
