EASY-PEASY HOMEMADE BABY CEREAL RECIPES - PART 1
In honour of September, the Whole Grains Month, we've rounded up the yummiest baby cereal recipes in a three-part series. They will bring variety to your baby's menu and turn your little one into an Oliver Twist!
Here we go!
RICE CEREAL
Takes 15 minutes to cook.
Ingredients:
- A quarter (1/4) cup of brown rice powder
- A cup of water
- Breast or formula milk
Method:
- With a food processor, grind the rice powder
- Bring some water to the boil, gradually add the ground rice powder and stir until rice powder is well cooked
- Turn down the heat and let it simmer for 10 minutes max
- Take it off the cooker and let it cool
- Add in as much breast or formula milk to your desired thickness
Storage:
Keep refrigerated in storage trays placed inside zip-lock bags (before adding breast or formula milk)

OATS AND APPLE CEREAL
Takes 15 minutes to cook.
Ingredients:
- A half (1/2) peeled and diced apple
- A quarter (1/4) cup of ground oats
- A 3/4 cup of water
- Breast or formula milk
Method:
- Let the oats, apple and water simmer for 10 minutes max (apple must be cooked till it is soft)
- Take it off the cooker and let it cool
- Add in as much breast or formula milk to your desired thickness
Storage:
Keep refrigerated in storage trays placed inside zip-lock bags (before adding breast or formula milk)

Hints:
- All water used for cooking should be filtered
- All whole grains should be ground with a food processor
- Cereals can be stored but they are best served fresh
