HOW TO HAVE A BABY SPA AT HOME
Let your baby get his or her relaxation on with a baby spa at home! If you are wondering how to swing one, no worries. Our four-step guide will make your first baby spa so easy-peasy!
Before we dive into the guide, let's find out why spas are good for your baby.
First off, a baby spa is a great time to bond with your baby. Also, hydrotherapy or water therapy allows your baby to move their arms and legs freely in a tub or pool of water. According to experts, this improves their balance and coordination skills. It also strengthens the muscles in their arms and legs. In fact, research has proved that babies who go through hydrotherapy learn to walk faster than those who do not because therapy trains their muscles. Also, giving your baby a massage and warm towel wrap during a baby spa increases blood flow throughout his or her body. This also eases up any pain and tension they may be feeling. Plus, it improves their sleep patterns.
Indeed, a baby spa is very healthy for your baby. It is very essential for their growth and development, both physically and mentally. Now that you know the benefits of a baby spa let's get to the nitty-gritty of it.
STEP #1: Start with a hydrotherapy session
Put your baby in a nappy and gently dip him or her in a tub or baby swimming pool of warm water. Make sure the tub or swimming pool is quite deep and wide so your baby can move their legs and arms in it. Put a baby buoy neck around your baby's neck to keep his or her head above water and allow him or her to float freely. Let your baby soak in the water for 20 to 25 minutes max, then take him or her out. Now, get ready for the next session of the spa.
Warning:
Never put your baby in a deep tub or baby swimming pool and leave him or her unsupervised. Keep an eye on him or her throughout the hydrotherapy session.
STEP #2: Give your baby a relaxing bath
From the deep tub or baby swimming pool, get your baby into his or her regular bath tub. Gently wash his or her body and hair with a body wash and mild shampoo respectively. Rinse off the wash and shampoo with slightly warm water and towel dry him or her after.
STEP #3: Wrap your baby in warm towels
Now heat up some soft towels and let them cool down. Wrap up your baby's body and head in them for about 15 minutes. You can also clip down their finger and toenails during this session. Next step, please.
STEP #4: Massage your baby
For 10 to 12 minutes, use baby oil to gently massage your baby's body. Jojoba oil and calendula are good oils for your baby so look out for those when you're buying some. Start massaging your baby's feet and legs and work your way up to their arms, chest and back. Afterwards, put a light baby lotion on your baby's body and dress him or her up in some comfy clothing. Now, let him or her sleep it off.
You can't go wrong with our guide, so let's hear from you on how you pulled off your baby's first spa with it.
