Spring is here, and she comes with lots of goodies from the garden! Mangoes, apricots, carrots, avocadoes, to mention a few are in season. So make some changes to your baby's menu - it's about time!

BROCCOLI AND PEAR PUREE

Recipe: An unlikely pair! However, these two gel well when used to make a puree. This recipe is a good choice if you want to include veggies in your baby's meals. Broccolis can taste bitter, but pears are sweet, so no worries, your baby will enjoy the blend.

Nutritional value: Broccolis are rich in Vitamin C and soluble fibre.

Good for: 6 to 9-month old babies.

Shopping: Buy broccolis with firm stalks and tightly bunched heads. Buds in heads should not show signs of yellowing.

SPINACH AND RASPBERRY YOGURT

Recipe: This yogurt blend will be your baby's fave after he or she's tasted it. It's so delicious and a powerhouse for lots of nutrients. Ideally, your baby should have tasted each ingredient separately and had no allergies before you try him or her on this blend.

Nutritional value: Vitamins B12 and C, calcium, folate and magnesium.

Good for: 6 to 12-month old babies.

Shopping: Fresh spinach leaves should be crisp and dark green and not limp or yellow. Always check the expiry date on the package.

Recipe: An adult favourite borrowed for babies but made to suit your little one's young tummy (so no cause for alarm!). Whether you make it from fresh or dried apricots, the taste is simply out of this world.

Nutritional value: Chicken meat is rich in iron (babies are usually deficient in this nutrient). It also has fats which are needed to promote the development of your baby's brain and body.

ROASTED STRAWBERRIES, PEARS AND CINNAMON

Recipe: We can only describe this recipe as super yum! Why? It's a blend of delightful flavours. The strawberry and pear, which are naturally sweet fruits, are roasted and taste much better. Plus, cinnamon is a spice with a sweet, slightly citrusy flavour.

Hint: You can swirl this puree with whole-milk yogurt for extra goodness.

Nutritional value: Strawberry is an excellent source of Vitamin C and manganese. They also contain enough folate and potassium.
